Attraction Distraction

I was having a quiet time with God last night and I felt Him saying that one of the biggest distractions from revival can be attraction.  You know... when you start liking someone.  I just really felt a warning in my heart to be careful of not letting that distract you.  Here are some ways it can.  One, you could be trying to be "godly" to catch the attention of someone.  Two, you could have quiet times that always revolve around a person you like.  If you find that every quiet time you have with God leads to someone you are interested in then that is a sign they have become an idol.  Three, you may like someone who isn't walking out totally in what God has called them too.  This can scare you away from you walking out in all that God is calling you to.  Be careful not to let attraction become a distraction.  Just trust that God has perfect timing and that if something is meant to be, He will make it happen for you!  But usually God doesn't do that until you are totally focused on Him.

  1. Very helpful Victoria. I think that this is something that can sneak into anyones life with out them even knowing it, and it is always good to be on the look out for this, so thanks for the insightful reminder!

  2. I was listening to a podcast of Loren Cunningham. He was talking about giving up our rights. First I want to quote some things that He said before He got to the part about relationships.

"But when I think about what God wants to do in the world, it's just getting people to say yes."

"You need to always listen to what Jesus says, whatever stage or development your in with Him, and freedom, when you give up your right of freedom, others will be set free weather you ever get into prison or not."

Then he begins to ask, what does it mean to give up your family... even marriage? I have always wondered this myself. Well, he talks about Darlene, his incredible wife. He says that if he were the one trying to figure it out he would have never ended up with this amazing woman that he has. He then says,

"When you give up that right, you are releasing Him to choose the right person... Don't use standards other than God's for the choice you make in that most important decision. "

He goes on to talk about how this really means hearing God's voice. This comes through intimacy with God, which comes through personal revival. Everything should stem from intimacy with God.
